    Default Where's Emanuel in 1911?

I'm looking for Emanuel Oakley born 1866 - Dudley.

1901 Census RG13/2746/42/5 shows Emanuel (Widower) a Bedstead Worker aged 35 living at 53 High St. Dudley.
    With him are his children:
    William 1885, Ann 1888, Edward 1889, Elizabeth 1897 and Daisy 1900.

FreeBmd shows a death for an Emanuel Oakley SQ 1911 aged 45 - Dudley, which would fit but I cannot find him on 1911 Census.

Can anyone see him for me?

    Sheila

I can see Edward living with William and his wife in Stourbridge, but there is not a trace of Emanuel - not even with just initials.
Sadly, our dear friend Dorothy (alias Thomasin) passed away on Sunday, 17th. February, 2013.

    Hi Thomasin
I found that one too but have to check marriage for William & Ida to make sure.
I've tried putting just Oakley 1866 +/-3 but as you say there's no trace of Emanuel - weird.
Can't see Daisy either so will check to see if she's died.

Thank you for looking for me.

If the death was registered 2nd quarter and the census was taken on 2nd April, there is just a small possibility that he was already dead on census night. Perhaps this is why he cannot be found.

It also depends upon how he died, whether there was an inquest etc. I have an ancestor who died in the August, but whose death was not registered until the following quarter as there was an inquest held in the December, which delayed matters.

I was wondering where the daughter Elizabeth was in 1911. Could this be her, living with the Tart (and Aston) family as 'Adopted daughter'? RG14PN17436 RG78PN1067 RD372 SD4 ED13 SN196 copyright TNA.

If you know his parents, were they still living in 1911? You might be able to figure out if he was still living by the number of living/died children they have listed if you know how many they originally had...... I did that with a family and managed to trace back and sort them out that way.

If there was an inquest I could check local paper to see if there's anything's in there.

Emanuel's father Thomas Oakley was alive in 1911 - shown as a Widower aged 74, working as a Sanitary Nuisance Remover (!) boarding at the home of Priscilla Harrison at 15 Charlotte St. Dudley.
Census does show Thomas married 56 years - 6 children, 5 living, 1 died - crossed out in red.

As for Elizabeth Oakley being the adopted daughter of Jesse Tart - at this moment the Tart family means nothing to me.

Many thanks to you all for taking the time to help me - very much appreciated.
