Hello,
Please could someone point me in the right direction of how to find out if there are any employment records for my Grandfather? He worked as an accountant in both the Penalta and Elliots Colliery in the Rhymney Valley. I have no idea as to whether office employees records exist.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Claire

If these places still exist, have you tried writing to personnel office or similar? or if not local council/Library may be able to help you to find such.

Glamorgan Family History Society should be your first port of call. They have lots of information about their area. In fact I recommend that you join the FHS that is local to where you are researching because they usually have members who are prepared to help other members in their research. They also have transcriptions of local registers - and Glamorgan have a HUGE database - and local employment stuff. They can also tell you what they have in their research centre and what is in the Glamorgan Archives in Cardiff.
You can, of course, see everything that Glamorgan FHS have to offer by looking on Parish Chest
