Hi. I have a photo of my grandmother's employer in the late 1920s - early 30s, whom I believe to be Joseph Godman, but which I would dearly love to confirm. If you could help source another confirmed photo, or know of the Godman family's address around that time (did any of them live in Forest Green?), I would be very grateful.
Cheers
Simon

Thanks Waitabit
Joseph was from a very wealthy family of stockbrokers, and yes, this all takes place in Surrey although they also had a home in a very smart part of Kensington, London. It's not so much his story I'm looking for, it's some proof that my photo is actually that of Joseph, because I was only ever told his first name, and the village of Forest Green, so I've been trawling all the Joseph Somebody's I can find in the area - JG is simply the best fit! Cheers again

If you squint & lower your head, your photo of a Gentleman could almost be said to resemble this on of Federick Du Cane Godman. Tho' younger version & later years.
Have you tried other sources for photos ie Coledges Libraries etc?Happy Families

I've had a quick look on Ancestry, but can't find the Dorset tree you mention (I've only got access to public trees) - can you narrow it down for me please? Cheers

Hi there, the last Joseph Godman (died in 2011) was my uncle (married my Father's sister) and so I can put you in touch with either of his three sons in order to help you recognise the photo discussed. Let me know.
