BLOOD Chesterfield, Bolsover, Derbyshire

I am looking for my mum's family - her name is Joyce May Blood, born 1923 in Chesterfield, her father was Elijah her mother was Florence (Rodgers). They divorced when my mum was about 9 and her mother moved south with Curly Shawcroft (to the Kent coalfield). She doesn't know what happened to her dad after that. She says she had an aunt, also called Joyce May Blood who she thinks was a midwife.

There is a marriage of an Elijah Blood to a Kate Stevenson registered in the December quarter of 1939 at Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

there is a death recorded Dec qtr. 1964 for a 62 year old Elijah BLOOD in Chesterfield Dist. Vol. 3A Page 159'
and a Kate BLOOD, also in Chesterfield Dist. Dec. qtr. 1978 Vol. 6 Pge. 0532 Date of Birth 3 May 1900.

I can find no evidence of children from Elijah's second marriage.

I thought that maybe Kate had been married previously but the 1901 Census ( RG13/3249/153/24) has a possible for Kate & family living at 21, Upper Moor Street, Chesterfield

I am not sure but Elijah's parents may have been
Thomas Blood and Prudence Needham, they married (according to FreeBMD) in Rotherham in 1892.

The birth of a Joyce May Blood was registered in Chesterfield in Sept 1896 and that of an Elijah in Chesterfield in June 1902 so they may well have been siblings.

There are loads of Blood births registered in Chesterfield between 1848 and 1953 including your mum.

Prudence BLOOD born Hull about 1862 as a widowed Boarder born in Hull
Elijah BLOOD born Bolsover, Derbyshire about 1902.

the 1901 Census (RG13/3254/30/10) for Station Road, Bolsover has:
Thomas BLOOD b. abt. 1865, Worksop, Notts. Occupation Pit Labourer
Prudence BLOOD b. abt. 1869, Hull, Yorks
Thomas W. BLOOD b. abt. 1893,Parkgate, Yorkshire
Matthew BLOOD b. abt. 1901 (1 month), Bolsover, Derbys.
