I dont have any access to the Beeford parish records but if there is anyone out there that could help by doing a look up that would be appreciated. For the moment I'm tempted to go with the information from the Familysearch website, that gives me Daniel Ash as the father of George, being in the right area and a close enough birth year 28/2/26 seems to fit the bill. He was a Miller and understand there was a mill or windmill in Beeford, is that right? Using find my past i can see that daniel is likely to have died in 1844 Skirlaugh, and Ann in 1847 in york. i can find no traces of them in 1851 census's. From ancestry Daniel spent a year 1827, imprisoned for larceny some where in east riding (Any ideas as to where the prison was?). Using the origonal familysearch website I managed to find Daniels parents as George and Hannah. But have no idea as to obtaining any marriage information on Daniels marriage.

The parish registers have been filmed by the Mormons. You can order the film and view it at the nearest of their family history centres. It's what people do when they don't live near the record office.I dont have any access to the Beeford parish records
Someone who can make sense of their "improved" website will be able to work out where your nearest centre is.
I believe the film is in permanent stock at the London Family History Centre (temporarily housed at the National Archives). The Society of Genealogists (Clerkenwell) have the BTs on microfilm.

If you haven't already done so I would advise that you get full details of George's marriage first, as the marriage certificate or church register should give his father's name and occupation. If it doesn't say Daniel then of course you will need to look elsewhere for George's baptism.
FreeBMD shows a George Ash marrying in the Skirlaugh district in the last quarter of 1849. Among the list of three possible spouses there are two Marys (Mary Davy Blundell and Mary Galtrass). I think Mary Davy Blundell may have married one of the other men on the list, Thomas Dykes, as there are some documents catalogued on A2A which refer to both Mary Davy Blundell (1823) and Mary Davy Dykes (died 1850). So Mary Galtrass may be the one who became Mary Ash. A birth certificate for one of George & Mary's children should confirm the mother's maiden name.

Searching for ones near Southampton gave five results. Unfortunately two of these (Portsmouth and Aldershot) are shown as closed and a third (Winchester) 'does not have microfilm circulation privileges'. That leaves one in Newport, Isle of Wignt, and one in Reading. The latter has its own website:
