1st of all there is no trace of a marriage, but I have the death of William Henry Andrewartha and his probate records where he died on January 25, 1904 and administration was to his widow Frances Edwards Andrewartha in the amount of 14-1/2GBP.
Cannot find a marriage for this couple.
2nd I have 3 baptisms between 1871 and 1876. All feature the same parents -William Henry and Frances Edwards:
#1 - William John - born December 22 1871 and baptised March 24, 1872
#2 - Frances Ann Richards - born May 30, 1874 and baptised August 23, 1874.
Transcriber's comments - Dead.
Does this imply a baptism just prior to burial?
#3 - Philip - born June 14, no year specified and baptised July 7, 1876.
All baptisms take place in St Erth. Baptism #1 & #2 shows residence as St. Uny Lelant and #3 just has St.Erth. The father's occupation for #1 & #2 is a Miner and #3 is a Porter.
Am I off-base or is this one and the same family?
Colin

The details of their marriage is on the Cornwall OPC. They married on the 28 November 1870 at Lelant.
William was a porter, age 25, his father was called John. Frances was age 29 and her father was also called John. I'll leave you to view the rest of the details on the OPC.

Also to be remembered when searching the Cornwall opc site that to use a wild card you need to use % rather than the more common *.
Sometimes Andrewartha was abbreviated to Andrew but I'm glad in this case the records you want have been found quickly

Marriages Dec 1870 Penzance 5C 431
ANDREWORTHA, William
HOLLOW, Agnes
HOLLOW, Thomas
RICHARDS, Frances Edwards
With the marriage I've been looking at Frances Edwards Richards with father John Richards. She was found in the 1851 census - HO107, Piece 1917, Folio 279, Page 32. John Richards is a Blacksmith and the family lived in Uny Lelant. His wife was Mary. There was also a daughter named Christiana and Mary's mother - Mary Edwards age 78 and a widow.
Frances Edwards Richards was born in 1842 and baptised August 14, 1842 in Lelant. The baptism indicates John's occupation was a Miner.
Christiana was born April June q. 1845 in Lelant. Her baptism was on April 27, 1845. Her names at baptism were Christiana Edwards White. John's occupation is stated as a Labourer.
From the above, I have conclued that John's wife - Mary - was the daughter of Mary Edwards and that the maiden name of Mary was White.
If so, then as Mary - the mother of Frances and Christiana - was aged 33 in 1851 and born in St. Erth, she should appear in 1841 census with spouse John, but I can't find them.
Can I ask for assistance on finding the family and details of parents of both John and Mary prior to marriage?
Colin
