There is a wonderful little map of old Clerkenwell.
It shows some of the streets we have mentioned in this thread.

Thanks for the map Mutley it will come in useful as I feel this family came from that area, maybe wrong but will see.
Last week I was looking for George Jones senior on the 1851 census in the hope of finding the wife and perhaps giving the mum's name to enable a baptism of George Jones junior to be found. I looked at 1806 + or - 10 years born in Middlesex/London about 54 candidates came up to which I looked at everyone of them and then low and behold one appeared born 1813 Whitechapel living in the same area of St James Clerkenwell as the marriage that took place in 1857. He was a lodger with his wife Mary Ann who was born in 1821 Wiltshire. The only problem being the age of this George Jones seems way out if my George Jones junior was born in 1827 (this is his consistant age on the 1861 and 1871 censuses) George Jones senior would of been a mere 14 when his son George was born.
Today I have had another search this time 1800 + or - 10 years born Middlesex/London but nothing significant I feel.
The George Jones born 1813 born Whitechapel and living St James Clerkenwell occupation as a waiter, as above, I wonder if it is the one I am searching for but the age has been wrongly entered!
I have asked for help with looking for a possible marriage for a George Jones and a Mary Ann ? but nothing conclusive as yet from searches.
Ewan
