I have tracked down the death certificate for william green it says he was born birmingham 31st january 1908 .I have scoured all the free bmd sites but cannot find him so that i can purchase the birth certificate can anyone track him down for me as i must be missing something because i canot see hi record .

You don't need to scour anything.

Just order the birth certificate with the GRO reference unknown giving them the information you have, particularly the exact date of birth.
