I would like to let forum members know of a research project that has just been begun by the Ryde District Historical Society in Sydney New South Wales. The Society has embarked on the challenge of gathering data on World War 1 Service personel who have a strong connection with the City of Ryde in Sydney.
If you have an ancestor who has a connection to Ryde and served in WW1 they would like you to contact them to pass on any information for the project. We currently have over 1,000 names on various monuments, memorials, school honour boards etc to research. This is a long term project which will take a number of years to complete but we are hoping to have the majority of the information by end of 2014.
If you go to rydegoestowarblogspot.com.au you can find out more about the project or you can contact the Ryde District Historical Society at www.

Any information would be greatfully accepted
