    Hi
I use Ancestral Quest which is simple to use and does everything that I need.

A quick question - which operating system do you use? Windows software, for example, may not be suitable for a Mac or a Linux machine....
Also, do you wish to pay or use free software? What do you want the software to do? Some people use software which is very complex, others use simple basic tree stuff - it is quite a large subject!

If I was a Windows user, coming to genealogy for the first time, I would look at what is available and perhaps grab a trial copy of some of the well known softwares out there. Run each for a week or so with a copy of your tree to see if it suits your style.
Even then, you will find it comes down to personal choice. What suits me won't probably suit you and vice-versa.

Windows 7 I really like how the ancestry online tree works so something similar would be nice. Would like to be able to print reports and trees too.
