I am trying to trace anything at all (marriage record &/or birth of children) for my g/g/grandparents. James Kenny b.abt.1832 Dublin Ireland & his wife Catherine Barclay b.abt.1836 Carlow Ireland their children Joseph Vincent b.1857 Dublin & Mary Elizabeth 1862. Marriage ? Aug. 1853 Dublin (from their death record here in Australia) - parents of Catherine 'unknown' & parents of James 'James & Catherine'. James & Catherine arrived in Australia 1863 - further information James is listed as a 'civil engineer' on a daughter's birth registration in Australia in 1868. Any recommended researchers for Ireland that could help?

Hello Kellsbrae - welcome to Brit-Gen,
You may find this book to be of interest. I have ancestors from Dublin and have found it to be invaluable for my research.

Hello Kellsbrae and welcome to the Forum.
Irish Genealogy website has the birth record of Mary Elizabeth KENNY on 17 March 1862 at St Mary Pro Cathedral, Dublin. Address is 63 Marlborough Street, parents are Jacobus KENNY & Catharina BARCLAY and the Sponsor is Margarita FREER.

Hi
Civil registration in Ireland started in 1864 but for non-catholic marriages records begin from 1845, so if your relations are RC you will need to consult parish records.
You are lucky that Dublin parish records and Church of Ireland Carlow parish records can be searched for free at
www.irishgenealogy.ie
If you are unfamiliar with Irish records then a useful free site is www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com
Then there is a gateway site for Carlow records that has lots of useful links www.
rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlcar2/Site_index.htm
It is possible to do a lot yourself online without paying anyone else.Last edited by notanotherminer; 17-04-2012 at 3:09 AM. Reason: Edited direct link to commercial website (the site has advertising links and asks for donations). Please see our AUP
