Well there is a marriage of John GRIFFIN and Bridget MULREANEY in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire in March Quarter, 1859 [vol.6b p. 105].

...and there is a birth for a John Griffin registered in Newcastle Under Lyme Registration District in March Quarter 1862 [vol.6b p.58].

The birth date doesn't match up with the other birth date given for John (August 1863) - where did you hear that his father was John Griffin and his mother Bridget Mulraney?

So, having avoided posting info about possible living persons.....if Henry Griffin is James Henry Griffin and was born in Dec Q 1904 [vol.2b p. 16] then he will more than likely be the James Henry Griffin who died in Hastings RD, June Quarter 1975 [vol.18 p. 1050]. That index entry gives his date of birth as 27 September 1904.

We know his wife seems to have been Jessie Elizabeth Goodsell who was born Hastings RD, Sep Q 1902 [vol.2b p. 22] and this is confirmed in her death registration in Hastings & Rother RD, January 1986 [vol.18 p.1058 Reg. No. 186] which gives her date of birth as 15 July 1902.

Note that there is a Jessie Evelyn Goodsell born in Battle RD, March Q, 1900 [vol.2b p.58] but she doesn’t appear to be connected to the Griffin family.

Added: Your Jessie Goodsell appears to be on the 1911 Census at RG14 PN4738 SN242

Apologies for the deluge of PMs but at least you now know you have a “Second Cousin Once Removed“ in Hastings. I hope you’re able to contact her without much difficulty.

    Hello Glenda

I found it on the GRO Indexes but you can find it on
    https://www.
    freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Once again it's an assumption unless we can see the original marriage entry or an official marriage certificate.
