I checked the probate index on Ancestry.

James Pressdee was of 356 Mill Street, Liverpool, a grocer and provision dealer. He died 29 May 1919. Date of probate was 1 July 1919, with probate going to Rose Pressdee widow. Effects were 4694 pounds, 12 shillings, 6 pence.

    Darn!

Thank you both very much. Now all I need is the 1921 census to find out what became of Rose. But that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

    Thank you both again.

Well don’t completely despair. The 1938 Kelly’s Directory of Liverpool has an ‘Edwd Harris Pressdee’ living at 356 Mill Street. He is described as a grocer.

I see that there is a death for a Rose K. Pressdee in Liverpool South RD, Jun Q 1949 [Vol.10d, p.554a]. She was 69 years old.

Brilliant Malcolm, Edward was their only son, so it looks like he took over his fathers grocers business.

I just found Roses death too, but you have more.
    Rose K. Pressdee
Where did the K come from!? She's always been just plain Rose Pressdee nee Robinson. Maybe that will help me find her birth now. Supposed to be Brosley, Shropshire in 1863 with father Thomas Robinson.

    Thank you so much

Whoops - isn't there something funny here? The Rose K who died 1949 was only 69 according to the GRO Death Index. That would make her born about 1880, but your Rose was born about 1863 according to the 1901 Census [RG13/3430 fol. 85 p. 12].

Have I just gone and confused things?

Terry, there’s always this as a line to explore>

    1. FreeBMD Deaths 1949: for some reason as well as Rose, there is a Rosamund Pressdee – obviously the same person.

    2. 1881 Census: RG11/2620 fol. 6 p. 4.

    Address: Mainstone, Clun, Shropshire

Thomas Robinson, Head, age 58, Farmer of 250 acres, born Mainstone, Shropshire
Elizabeth Robinson, wife, age 41, Farmer’s wife, born Moore, Shropshire
ROSA Robinson, daughter, single, age 20, Farmer’s daughter, born [?]ton [probably ACTON which is next to Brockton], Shropshire

    3. 1871 Census: RG10/2733 fol. 19 p.12

Address: Brockton Village, Lydbury North, Clun, Shropshire

Thomas Robinson, Head, age 48, Beerhouse Keeper, born Mainstone, Shropshire
Elizabeth Robinson, wife, age 34, born Moore, Shropshire
Thomas Robinson, son, 14, scholar, born Lydbury North, Shropshire
ROSA Robinson, daughter, age 10, scholar, born Lydbury North, Shropshire
John, son, 9, scholar,, born Lydbury North, Shropshire
Richard, son, 7, scholar, born Lydbury North, Shropshire

Elizabeth, daughter, 4, born Lydbury North, Shropshire
William, son, 3, born Lydbury North, Shropshire
Lotty, daughter, 6 months, born Lydbury North, Shropshire

There are obvious anomalies I know, but it may be worth looking at more closely.

Later: Sorry, I forgot to say that if James Pressdee was born in Clunbury, Salop (see 1901 Census) then Clunbury is only a short hike (3-4 miles) over the hill to Acton & Brockton.

    Maybe Broseley's a red herring.
