I've been looking at Ancestry's London, England, Poor Law Records, 1517-1973 and they seem to have duplicated their results in a mad way. For example, for 'Southwark, Camberwell, Orders of Removal, Settlement and Relief 1894-96' they have 2,530,913 matches, and they are all the same. It's the same with other boroughs too.![]()

Eh? When I call up that category
Southwark > Camberwell > Orders of Removal > Settlement and Relief, 1894-1896
I just see 204 pages all different and all looking much as I would expect.

There are at least 200 pages, and they are all identical.
Now I get this: Check Back Soon

Don't you see 204 separate 'matches' for this category? If you go into them, they are all identical.
Ah, I see what has happened. 204 matches = 204 pages in the book, and each one has come up separately. How mad is that?Last edited by Thomasin; 05-04-2012 at 1:54 PM. Reason: later ....

Ah you're using that search panel. Knowing that it wasn't transcribed I just went straight to the Browse panel on the right and everything appeared normal to me.
Surely the Search panel is just a waste of space if the records haven't been transcribed

Search panel? What am I doing wrong? I go in from Card Catalogue. Nothing ever seems very visible in Ancestry.
