    Default Thomas CONNELL

    Hi all, can you help?

Thomas CONNELL was born abt 1825 ....possibly England or Ireland
He died in April 1860 in Sydney, aged 35yrs.

Thomas married Mary GREEN : V1854402/ 138/1854 RC...
    They had 3 children.

He had been in the colony for 7yrs, so that would make his arrival in 1853.

Looking at what appears to be his death on Anc-parents Thomas and Mary.
Looking at their marriage record code they married at St Marys R.C Sydney..wonder if the original church entry would contain any info on parents..

No information on that certificate. Yes, parents Thomas and Mary. There is another marriage certificate : V1854195 100/1854, don't know if I should get that one.

Witnesses were Eugene Connor of Sydney and Anne O'Connor of Sydney.

I doubt the other would have any more info on it.

There is a record on Anc for a Eugene Connor brn 1817 arriving NSW on The Susan in 1839 Noted as a RC...from Co Kerry Ireland and that he could read and write...

Thank you, Valg. I'll go with Eugene and check out Co Kerry :-)

As Thomas arrived in 1853, they weren't ship mates.

Maybe not ship mates but could have known each other from the old country!
The original parish entry for the marriage may contain more details..it says St Marys Sydney so am assuming it is St Marys Cathedral..
You are on the Gold Coast, give Southport Library a call and see if they have a copy...if not they may be able to help you locate where to start .I know they are quite helpful.
