    Default Oldham Cemetery Registers

This afternoon I attended a very interesting talk about the new FamilySearch site.

The first thing I learnt was 'keep checking'. Records are being added at a phenomenal rate. One database alone went from something like 157,000 entries to 335,000 within three weeks.

One of the databases I spotted in a screen-shot was England, Lancashire, Oldham Cemetery Registers 1797 - 2004.

Currently only browsable but if you have a year of death easily narrowed down, though you do have a choice of seven cemeteries. And within those cemeteries you can find such details (not at them all so don't get too enthusiastic! ) burial registers, grave registers, stillborn register, indexes, A-Z, and crematorium registers. Please note that the years covered as well as the types of record held, vary from cemetery to cemetery.

Makes me (almost) wish I had ancestors in that area.
