As Coromandel has said, there are a mass of NUNNEYs going way back in Burford according to the Ooxfordshire FHS PR Transcripts of Burford but no baptism for a Joseph born c1816. However, looking at the Gloucestershire FHS Baptismal Index 1813-37 shows the baptism of a Joseph NUNEY at Cheltenham St Mary on 8 January 1815 son of John & Anne, Plasterer, Cheltenham. Other siblings (both baptised at Cheltenham St Mary) are:
Anne NUNNEY baptised 5 November 1816
John NUNNEY baptised 25 November 1818

This could be John NUNNEY jnr back in Burford in the 1841 census (HO107/872/17, folio 29, page 17):
East Side, High Street
John NUNNEY 20 Plasterer Born in county no
Ann do 20 yes
And this could be his marriage from the FHS PR Transcripts of Burford:
22 August 1840 Jn NUNNEY, bachelor, Slatter, father Jn NUNNEY, Slatter & Mary Ann WALCRAFT, spinster, father Wm WALCRAFT, Labourer. Both of full age and of Burford. Witnesses: Jn MARSHALL & Mary NUNEY who both marked.
Could it be that the Charles NUNNEY who was a witness at Joseph's wedding to Lucy was a cousin of Joseph & John above and that his father James was the brother of John NUNNEY father of Joseph & John especially given the occupations shown on the marriage records of Charles & John jnr of their fathers.
James NUNNEY, father of Charles, was baptised on 13 May 1795 at Burford, son of John and there is a baptism on 29 January 1793 at Burford of a John NUNNEY son of John, Slatter. Their parents look to be a John NUNNEY & Mary LINZEY who married at Burford on 15 May 1786.
However, I cannot find the marriage of John NUNNEY father of Joseph & John to his wife Ann on either the Oxfordshire Marriage Index of the Gloucestershire Marriage Index.
