You have a couple of other threads on Thomas Henry HUGHES, here and here but I need to read through them properly and so for the moment, could you clarify the following. Your great grandfather was Thomas James HUGHES (or rather SIMMONS) born 1879 Liverpool and his natural father was William SIMMONS and his step-father was called Thomas Henry HUGHES.

Are you trying establish if Thomas Henry Hughes was the son of Thomas Henry HUGH and Elizabeth, born abt. 1844 in Paul?

If so I'll have a look a little later on, unless somebody sorts it all out beforehand.

    Hi
My great grandfather was Thomas James Simmons born 1879 Liverpool. His mother remarried to Thomas Henry Hughes in Liverpool 1882 and my Great grandfather surname was changed from Simmons to Hughes. my great grandfather's father name was William Henry Simmons born 1842 St Just. Yes i'm trying to establish that Thomas Henry Hughes was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth in Paul. This is my great grandfather on the 1881 census rg11 piece 3598 folio 17 page 28

Well that's good news since it sorts Elizabeth out.

However, there is still the matter of establishing if your Thomas Henry HUGHES was the son of Thomas Henry HUGHES and Elizabeth nee TONKIN. Rather than post on your other thread, I think it is best if we stick to this thread. So, quoting the details from your previous thread on Thomas ...

On his marriage certificate his father was Thomas Henry Hughes. I found them on the 1901 + 1891 censuses in Wales RG13 PIECE 5003 FOLIO 7 PAGE 5. AND RG12 PIECE 4418 FOLIO 127 PAGE 43. I found Thomas James Hughes on the 1881 census in Liverpool as Thomas james Simmons. I sent away for his birth certificate and his father was William Simmons, mother Elizabeth Simmons nee Prisk both from cornwall. William died in 1881 Liverpool. Elizabeth remarried in 1882 Liverpool to Thomas Henry Hue ( hughes) On their marriage Certificate they have Thomas's father as Thomas Henry Hue Labourer and Elizabeth's father William Prisk profession Smith i think this could be blacksmith. They both died 1860 +1876. The only Thomas Henry Hughes i can trace back is the one who married Catherine Jenkin Daniel in 1870 Penzance. census records 1871 RG10 PIECE 2340 FOLIO 56 PAGE 11. 1881 RG11 PIECE 2346 FOLIO 94 PAGE 7. 1891 RG12 PIECE 1858 FOLIO 33 PAGE 20. 1901 RG13 PIECE 2254 FOLIO 40 PAGE 34. Is this the same Thomas Henry Hughes with 2 families.
I will post the census details in a moment so we can all take a look.
