My husband being a man of advancing years is being nostalgic about his childhood. He fondly remembers a Mr. Hyson who ran a boys club in the Cinderhill/Basford area from about 1950. This club offered gym, judo, football etc. My husband recalls that no financial charge for anything was ever made. Mr Hyson bore the cost of things like the hall rental, team uniforms and all other costs. Mr Hyson was also involved with the Sunday School at the Cinderhill Methodist Church on Nutthall Road. Running the Sunday School was an equally good bloke called, 'Albert', who was a miner by occupation. My husband would like to know if Mr Hyson had anything to do with the area of Nottingham called Hyson Green, and his background. He was a philanthropist who gave a great deal to the boys of working class families in the area. Perhaps there is someone on this forum who also attended the boys club at that time. Here's hoping!
