I have always been aware that I had a cousin who died in Ireland. He was in the British army. I thought his name was Michael but I may be wrong. I recently discovered an Arthur Place who died there on May 17 1973. My maiden name was Place.
My father Norman had a brother Harold who may be the father of Arthur but I can't find any info on either one.

I found the record you refer to by googling "Military Deaths Northern Ireland" and found this site

forces-war-records.co.uk/search/search_result.asp
Because of how recent this is we have to be very careful here, see the AUP regarding living relatives.
Clearly family contact has broken down. The best I can suggest to verify whether this person is your relative is to pursue the web site and hopefully obtain his service number. The you can apply for his service records.

I'm afraid that site didn't give me any answers. I realise one must be careful when researching, but I was hoping to possibly find a newspaper report on the incident or an obituary notice. Info on Harold would be nice too.
Thanks for your response though. I've bookmarked the site for future reference.
