Hello Trudy,
The first step would be to get hold of the marriage certificate for which you have quoted the references. It can be obtained from the GRO - click here.
Then you should have the name of his father and perhaps a clue or two to help you find him in the 1911 and 1901 censuses. These in turn should help you to find his birth registration.

what was the address given on the marriage certificate and what were the occupations of both Richard and John?

Is yours the tree on Ancestry with an address in the Electorial Rolls of 22 Harrison Street?
Sorry to ask questions, it is necessary though, to search for answers.
You have obviously done a lot of searching if that tree is yours.
