Ralph Sands

My 3xgreat grandfather Ralph Sands was married to an Elizabeth Twells at St. Mary Nottingham in 1792. However I can find no trace of his birth and cannot therefore get any further back. Can any body offer any ideas? I'm ever hopeful!

Was Ralph was born abt 1771 in Nottinghamshire? In the 1841 census here -> HO107/870 b.3, f.29, p.6

As a possibility, there is this baptism...

Ralph Sands on 29 May 1772 at St Werburgh, Derby. Parents Ralph and Mary.

Derby is not so far from Nottingham (about 15 miles) so it could be that Ralph and Mary moved to Derby for a while and had Ralph jnr baptised there.

Thank you so much for that. I think it looks very hopeful. I had already looked at the other children of Ralph and Mary but despaired when I could find no Ralph. Now I have renewed enthusiasm!
