Default Danish guy with British origins

    Hello everyone,

Im a danish guy that has taken interest in my familys history, and for some time now have been researching into my british ancestors, especially my second great grandfather, that came to Denmark in around the year 1852, together with his family, and participated in the establishing of some of the first railroads in this country.
He later became factory manager in a company that manufactured railroad waggons and so on.

He was born in Colchester, in the year 1819, became a coach-builder, and went to London, to work at the Stratford works company.

My mother is the last born here in Denmark of that family name, Lawrence, that is, and I have found it very interesting to discover that my ancestors played a role in the early days of the railway.

I would like to learn a little more of my ancestors origins in the UK, and hope that perhaps this is the right place for just that..

    With regards from Denmark

I am sure we will be able to find something for you, so welcome aboard.

Our ancestors travelled far further than we ever thought, here to there and there to here.
Hopefully, we can share in our research but most of all, just have some fun and enjoy the hobby and the forum.
