    Default Mobberley Parish Records

If anyone has access to the Mobberley Parish Records could a look-up be done for Mary Ann Lowndes, daughter of Hannah (no father) on 8 May 1831? I am curious if there is any other information that might link her to my great-great grandmother.\
    Thank you.
    Diana.

I had hoped the Mary Ann Lownds in FamilySearch daughter of Hannah might be "mine" but looks like there were two illegitimate Mary Anns born to two Hannahs.
My ancestor grew up in Stockport and Huddersfield (Yks), later lived in Halifax Yks and Oldham Lancs. and then back to Huddersfield. I am quite sure her father was Matthew Irving/Irvin/Hervin who married Hannah in Manchester in 1827. The ages for my Mary Ann and Hannah are all over the place but it looks like ca 1826 for Mary Ann and ca 1804-6 for Hannah. I have two birthplaces for each - Mobberley and Knutsford for Mary Ann and Knutsford and Wales for Hannah. Given the occurrence of the name Lownds around Knutsford I think that is the right area.
I cannot get any further on this line with the vague birthdates and birthplaces - it is of course possible that Mary Ann was not baptised C of E or baptised a Unitarian, as her father was. The three siblings I found for her parents (after marriage) were baptised C of E (only one survived infancy).

Mary Ann m. (1) Joseph Ford in Halifax, Yks (under the name Lounce) in 1848 and (2) Thomas Summers Spencer in Huddersfield in 1861 (and died about 3 months later) maiden name given as Hervin (i.e. Irvin(g).

have you considered that Hannah's birthplace might refer to Wales, Yorkshire? Of course it could just be that she lived there at some time.

Thanks everyone for your help. Looks like this is definitely not my Mary Ann born to Hannah. She's still a brick wall!

Good thinking from Nicolina (thread #5) I came across that tricky little place once before, so possibly time for a 2nd visit!

I can only find one bap for Mary Ann Lowndes (any spelling) on non-conformist registers - not yours though!
Mary Ann Lownds b1810 Lincolnshire to John and Jane.

Do you have the cert. for Matthew and Hannah's marriage, or for either of Mary Ann's marriages?

I have the information for Hannah Lownds and Matthew Irving's marriage at Manchester Cathedral and I have the marriage certificates for Mary Ann to Joseph Ford (1846), to Thomas Summers Spencer (1871), and her death (erroneously registered as Mary Ann Sumers, took a while to figure that one out!), Matthew Irving/Hervin's death record and Hannah Hervin's death record. Also have a newspaper record referring to Thomas's third marriage in 1873 to Mary Haworth.
Several family members have done disappearing acts - can find no trace of Joseph Ford after 1856, Thomas S. Spencer after 1873, and Mary Ann's eldest son Matthew William Ford after 1871 census.
