In 1881 Mary Elizabeth Kruger is with her Dutch parents, George (a Bootmaker) and Mary,
in St. George in the East, Middx.
She is aged 9, born 1871 in St. George in the East.
RG11/450 F.122 p.50
In June 1890 Mary Kruger marries Abraham Blankhart. (Poplar 1c/1139). I don't have that certificate yet.
In the 1891 Electorial Rolls Abraham Blankhart is living at 81 Aberfeldy St. Poplar and a George Kruger lives at number 83. Neither Abraham or George are at these addresses in the 1891 census. I cannot find them.
In 1891 Mary Blankhart is a married woman, home alone, as head of household at 109 Bidder Street, West Ham.
Age 20, born 1871 St. George in the East, Middx.
RG12/1327 F.16 P.26
On 25 Dec 1900 Mary Blankhart marries Charles Johnson, in Bow Common, Tower Hamlets, she is a widow,
her father is George Kruger (a Bootmaker). She was 28 years old so born 1872.
But I cannot find Abraham Blankhart between 1891 and 1900???

Thanks for that Thomasin,
I'd not gone back that far for Abraham, makes him at least 30 years older than young Mary!!
Presumably Frederica died, I wonder if they had children? Off I go again......

Thanks Julie,
Oh dear, if it is him, he did not die! (but a third marriage at age 74?)
Bigamy or divorce?
Young Mary did not seem to live with Abraham and he was over 30 years older than her. He married Mary in 1890 in the same quarter that his previous wife Frederica died (age 62). Looks like I need a JCB rather than a shovel to sort this one out!

Thanks Julie, I am not sure whether to be relieved or sad.
I would really like to find a death for him between 1891 and 1900 rather than a marriage.
Just had a thought, I wonder if the name might have been Anglicised?
Maybe Blanchard instead of Blankhart...

Mutley, it is ofcourse quite possiiblet hat he died overseas, in his work as a seaman.
Have you checked various passenger & crew list for any country to which he may have sailed to or by way of ?Happy Families
