    Default Person Trace

    Hi,

Maybe someone can help me to look in the correct place ?

I have a christian name and all of the initials. I have a street but no house number...and I have an approximate date/year that person resided here. I know also that the person moved abroad shortly afterwards.

What search website would you suggest to find the elusive surname ?
    Thanks & regards,
    david.

Hello David - welcome to Brit-Gen,

Directories could help, as could electoral registers if the person was old enough to have voted. However, without knowing the approximate date that you are talking about, it is difficult to advise further.

If the person is still living, then a letter to the local newspaper for their "where are they now?" column could help as could a website such as Friends/Genes Reunited.

Please be aware that details of potentially living people are not allowed on Brit-Gen. See the Terms of Service.

    Hi Jan,
Thanks for the prompt reply. The person I describe in my initial posting would have been about 20 years old around 1980. For maybe 'obvious ' reasons I cannot contact a local newspaper etc.
I have also searched Friends Reunited for the college listings to no avail.
Electoral register would be the best thing to try, so can you tell me where online, I could search for this information ?
    Many Thanks,
    David.

Start with 192.com. There is also theukelectoralroll.co.uk/. Both of these sites have charges. The local council will also have a copy of the electoral registers. However, you would need to check if they have a "look-up" service.
