    Default Cheney/Chainey/Cheyney in Puncknowle Dorset

Protestation Returns 1641, Hearth Tax, Window Tax.

Please does anyone have any of the above for Puncknowle? I'm trying to sort out the Cheney family between 1640 and 1750 and need help with the number of Cheney households there at specific times, as their wills are rather confusing.

    Thank you for your help

    Hi Trudy

The Local History Centre at Bridport Museum may be able to help you: their website at

    http://www.
    spiritofbridport.org/2010/11/the-local-history-centre/

says they have transcripts of nominal rolls including 'Tudor Muster Rolls, Protestation Returns, Hearth Tax, Yeomanry etc.' and mentions that they do research 'for a reasonable fee'.
