I have found 2 military records for H Parker on National Roll of Great War.
H. Parker 1 - Pvte Manchester Regiment & Queens.joined Sep 1916, France 1917, wounded on Somme 1918, discharged unfit 1919. Address given 43 Southwell St Manchester.
H. Parker 2 - Pvte 13 Manchester Regiment, mobilised on outbreak of war. France with expeditionary forces.Wounded on Somme, sent to Salonika again wounded. Hospitalised in England. Demobilised May 1919. Address given 1 Roseberry St Gorton Manchester.
Neither of these addresses are known to be associated with this Parker family.
My knowledge, Harold Parker born 1894 in Cheadle Cheshire, was in war, thought to be Manchester Regiment, was gassed and never recovered health completely. A war medal record shows Gunner Royal Engineers. Died at Crewe in 1966. I have no other details.
Is it coincidence that there are 3 H Parkers all from the same area, all serving in France, all being wounded, and all being discharged from service in poor health? Or is my Harold, actually one of the listed H. Parkers?
Hopefully someone will head me in the right direction.
Sandra whose spectacled aura is no help at all in this instance.

Sandra, I do believe I need new spectacles but why can't the first two mentioned H Parkers be the same man, one with more infomation. The address may have been a rehab or some small hospital where injred personnel were sent.
...I'd like it to be that, but wait for the experts.
oh yes, 2nd address the above, 1st address final address on discharge.Happy Families

Hi Sandra
There are war records on Ancestry for a Harold Parker which gives his address as 24 Chapel Street, Cheadle. He joined the Royal Engineers as a road constructor.
It states his father as William Parker of the same address.
Later in the records it states he married Sarah Emily Siddons, 10th August 1918 in Nantwich. Also later in the record it gives his and his wife’s address as 62 Catherine Street, Crewe.
According to the 1911 Census there appears to be only one Harold Parker born 1894 + or - one year in Cheadle and this man is at 24 Chapel St. with his family.
Does any of this ring any bells?
Cheers
Judyg

Thanks Judy, That's my boy.
However, I do not have any war service info about him, but Engineers is not Manchester Regiment or Queens Regiment, so my Roll information does not look promising..
Where did he serve, where and how was he wounded and when was he discharged?
Is there any link with the H.Parkers of the Roll - is there any way of finding out what the H stands for?

Sandra,
It looks as though he enlisted (attested at Stockport) on 15 January 1917, embarked for France on 14 February 1917 (Southampton to Le Havre), admitted to Hospital on 31 March 1917, Transferred to Road ....... Depot, Longmoor on 19 April 1917, posted to 332 R.E. Corps Aldershot 29 May 1917, Re-embarked with 332 Corps on 17th ........ and admitted to Hospital on 29 June 1918. Some of the writing is extremely faint and difficult to read, I'm afraid. Various other pages about his leave and his award of British War Medal Victory Medal and one which states he was due for demobolization on 15 December 1919.
His Regimental no appears to be 24348 and his rank Private. It could be well worth your while downloading all the pages of his war record. Great spot by Judy!

Have you looked at the record that Judy found? This should contain about as much information as it's possible to get hold of.I do not have any war service info about him
The National Roll of the Great War is not an official comprehensive list - people had to pay to be included and the information is only what the individuals (or relations) chose to submit. It may or may not be accurate. Is there any link with the H.Parkers of the RollPeter Goodey
