I must be even more myopic than I thought.

A bit of a stretch, but maybe she never married Mr. Ridgely. A copy of that death cert might be worth following up on

The death looks very likely to me -- well done, Coromandel.

In the late 1930s Daisy is living as Daisy Kate MUDD at 23 Fairholme Road, Baron's Court, W14 (Hammersmith & Fulham electoral rolls).

Agreed, but I'd have thought the 1905 birth certificate would be the priority?

A Barnardo's factsheet at barnardos.org.uk/childcare-2.pdf (put www. in front) says
'Barnardo's also holds the records for The Children's Aid Society, Macpherson Homes, Marchmont Home, Liverpool Sheltering Home, Sharman's Home, and these records are routinely researched when enquirers write to Barnardo's Making Connections.'
If you haven't already done so, borisbadenough, it may therefore be worth contacting Barnardo's Family History Service:

    barnardos.org.uk/what_we_do/who_we_are/history/family_history_service.htm Home.

The birth cert is #1 on the list. The death cert. later.

Abbots Langley and its environs was a standard area for children to be boarded out by the London boards of guardians.

Fulham Board of Guardians have records that may be worth looking at. These are held at LMA, but are not online for this date. For example ...

Register of children boarded out 1896 - 1919
    FBG/115/002

    Register of children emigrated 1899 - 1928
    FBG/117

LMA offers a research service and would look at these for you, but at some cost. The Barnardo's route suggested by Coromandel in post #14 would be a more economical first step. You could first find out if he is included in their records, and take it from there.
