Hello,
I have found a mention of a will for Henry Chiney (Cheney).
Text: Chiney, Henry, Puncknoll A. 1686
Book: Burialls (Burial)
Collection: Dorset: - Wills and Administrations
I managed to find a bond for his wife.
Name: Agnetta Chiney
Residence Date: 1686
Residence Place: Puncknowle, Dorset
Event Type: Administration
Probate Court: Bristol Consistitory
Does any one know where I should look for the will?
Trudy

Hello Trudy,
Have a read of this guide to wills (post #2) and then again, there is this TNA guide.
Meanwhile, I shall move this post over to the Wills forum.

This appears to be from the UK, Extracted Probate Records collection on Ancestry. The source is stated as the "Electronic databases created from various publications of probate records."
Why not contact the Dorset History Centre and ask them...
a) if the Henry Chiney will/administration document is held at their archives
b) if so, could how much would it cost for a copy
Their copying charges can be viewed here - looks reasonable.
Edit: I just noticed that the Will/Administration (Henry Chiney) and the Administration (Agnetta Chiney) are both dated 1686 and the Administration (Agnetta Chiney) is a bond on Agnetta to administer Henry's estate. It occurs to me that the two different collections could be referring to the same bond document. I.e. in one collection indexed as Henry Chiney - Will/Administration and in the other collection indexed as Agnetta Chiney - Administration.
The source for the Agnetta Chiney Administration document is stated as the Dorset History Centre and they may be able to clarify this for you.

I am unclear if there is a Will for Henry Chiney, or just the bond for his wife and the inventory. The bond and inventory are both available on Ancestry, I could not find a copy of the will.
I had also found in The index library, Volume 22 By British Record Society Dorset Wills and Administration 1568 - 1799.
Chiney Henry Puncknoll A 1686
I did send a request to the Dorset Records office, thank you for the ideas and help.
