Searching for British origins of my 6 GGF, George Linam, who was in South Carolina by 1778. Previous searches in LDS records indicated lots of Lynams in Cornwall and Derbyshire and Linams in Bedfordshire in 18th Century. A professional genealogist from Cornwall has ruled out the Cornish link. Neighbors of George Linam suggest a possible Scotch-Irish connection. We've been working on this for 40 years without making the British link. Any help would be appreciated.
