I've just started transcribing a trunk full of wartime letters between my late parents. Mother was a WAAF on the Isles of Man - Father was at Dunkirk and later in Middle East.
I wondered if it was worth putting on the web a list of characters from these letters - I've already found a Naval Courier Eileen Bonne who has spent some time in Chile - it's this sort of random information I thought might be of interest is it?

Please bear in mind that some of these people might still be alive. You are very fortunate to have possession of such an important part of history and I agree that it is important that they be preserved for future generations to see. You do however need to be careful not to make information concerning living persons available on the internet.
It's a tough call. Part of me thinks they are so important they should be published but another part thinks we should respect the rights of others to have their details kept private.
