Lawrence or Laurence Hurst B. 1852

I'm trying to find a birth record for Lawrence/Laurence Hurst born Sept. 13, 1852 in Lancashire, England. His fathers name was John and his mothers name was Mary according to his marriage record here in Canada. I'm hoping that someone can tell me his mothers maiden name. This marriage record to Martha Embury also mentioned that Lawrence was a widower at the time of their marriage and I have been unable to determine who his first wife was. I don't know if he was married here in Canada or if he was married in England prior to his marriage to Martha. Any assistance in this research will be so-o-o-o appreciated!

There doesn't seem to be a birth for a Laurence / Lawrence Hurst between 1851- 1853 any where in Uk. did he have a 2nd name?
Quite few John & Marys there. do you have arrival details for Laurence/ lawrence in Canada?

Yes, I know, I've searched everywhere for a birth record without success. I'm hoping that someone will have record of him in an old family bible or family tree. There are trees that include him however they don't give a maiden name for his mother and without that it's extremely hard to trace the roots of his father, John Hurst.

As far as I know he doesn't have a 2nd name, but anything's possible.

Canada Census records give an immigration year of 1878.

In your earlier thread about Lawrence, Lizzy9 noted that there was a son George Fletcher Hurst who was 12 in 1891. If his age is correct, (a) he must have been born before Lawrence and Martha married (1880) and (b) he should be around somewhere on the 1881 census. Have you found any birth record for him?

Edit: His attestation papers in the 'Soldiers of the First World War - CEF' collection says he was born 5 April 1879 in Madoc, Ontario.

Yes I do have the attestation papers for George Fletcher Hurst, and he was born before Lawrence married Martha Embury. That is one of the reasons that I'm trying to find the first wife of his father Lawrence. Lawrence is indicated as being "Widowed" on his marriage registration to Martha Embury, this is also the document that indicates that his fathers name is John and his mothers name is Mary. The death certificate of Lawrence indicates that he was born in Lancashire, England, which is why I started this new thread in the Lancashire forum.

There is something in the IGI that indicates that George Fletcher's mother is Martha Embury, it was information submitted by a member but I've been unable to find an actual birth record to prove it.

I've recently been informed that the reason that I may unable to find anything on Lawrence is that many records were burned in
WWII, if that's true....yikes!!!
