The information i received from cheshire record office is they checked the burial register of St Mary`s Nantwich and found 14th March Frances Ravenscroft of 200 the Barony age 65 no other information they checked registers of inmates which comence 1925 but could find no entry. from Cheshire East council no record of Frances at Nantwich Whitehouse Lane cemetery and Crewe
I have a copy of page 39 burials in the parish of Nantwich 1927 which states her name 200 the Barony march 14th age 65 C.W.M Bromley rector who performed the ceremony so it look as though she is buried in Nantwich but where

I don't see why you doubt that she was buried in the churchyard of St Mary, Nantwich.

If this was a definitely a register of burials at Nantwich St Mary then this would seem to be saying that Frances Ravenscroft, of 200 the Barony, was buried at Nantwich St Mary. A parish burial register doesn't usually say any more than date, name, age, abode, and who performed the ceremony. It is important that you check exactly what this register was, though: sometimes parish records include registers of burial services conducted by the parish clergy, but not necessarily in the parish churchyard. The staff at the Record Office should be able to tell you exactly what the register is.

Peter mentioned above that there was also a grave register for Nantwich parish. This may only refer to private graves, so if Frances is missing from this register it doesn't necessarily mean she's not in the churchyard.

It might be worth checking local newspapers around the time of her death and burial, just in case there's any mention of the funeral arrangements.)

If this was an admission register, it would only show those admitted from 1925 onwards; Frances may have been admitted to the workhouse before that. Another possible explanation is that Frances may not have been a long-term resident of the workhouse, but rather have just gone to the infirmary there in her last days. Perhaps there were separate records of the infirmary?

Neither do I, You state that the vicar performed the ceremony. this may be the service and not a committal to a grave.

Who would have applied for the plot your relative seems to have been in service and her father had remarried and was dead by this date.

I would suggest you contact St Mary's Church enquiring about the burial policy in 1927, even asking about an undertaker,

Undertakers keep records, there are not many in the area ( the Co op having the monoply) and you do have the date of death and burial so it will make there search easier.

When I have rung Crewe Cemetery I have found the staff most helpful, ( as are most cemetery staff) even suggesting whoelse might be able to help me!

Sometimes you need to get away from the computer, and search the records yourself, you have had a lot of help from various sites and seem to be going round in a circle, even the FHS seems unable to assist you, this surprises me being a FHS member.
