Wondered if it might be "Wythall" in Worcestershire?
There's a John Rudge baptised Alvechurch, 1812 (IGI extracted record).

Thank you for the work you have done in trying to solve the Yethall mystery.

I have wondered about possible mis-understandings by the enumerators but the fact that Yethell appears in census returns for a number of people from 1841 to 1891 puts some doubt in my mind.

However, I think that if the problem is due to local pronunciation and accent, then I agree with your suggestion that Heath Hill is the most likely answer.

I will have to do some fishing in that area and see what I can come up with.

    Again, many thanks,

    Bonzo

Further to my last memo. John Rudge was my great great grandfather. I was born in Stourbridge.
would you like to exchange info?

    Default John Rudge Yethel

    Hello Kempson,

Obviously we are related because we both have the same Great Great Grandfather.

My line came down from Henry Rudge (1841) who was the son of John Rudge and Hannah Nock.

It is most frustrating not being able to find Yethel because until I do, I can not trace any more of John Rurde's family.

Perhaps one day someone will come up with an answer.

    With kind regards,

    Bonzo

    Hello Bonzo
Just for info - my line came down from Hannah Maria Rudge, Henry's sister. She sadly died in childbirth when her daughter, my grandmother, was 3 years old.
I'm trying to get some help on Yethel from Iain Swinnerton, military researcher and one of the founder members of the Federation of Family History Societies, a childhood friend of mine from Stourbridge, who also lived in Shropshire for a while.
I have been unable to find the death of John Rudge. Have tried Free B.M.D. and sent for two certificates, neither of which were correct. Do you know which registration district his death was registered in?

    Hello Kempson,

I am sending this e-mail because,as I have not had a reply to my message that I sent a couple of weeks ago, I am wondering if you may not have received it.

I think it would be better if we corresponded directly by e-mail. If you agree, my address is harryrudge AT hotmail DOT com

    With best wishes,

    Bonzo.

Note that in Shropshire historical records online there are 327 records of Heath Hill being spelled as Heathill.
