Default Hi - Looking to make some sense of History

This is my great Grandad Charlie Attrill M.B.E who was heavily involved at in helping with the design of launching of Torpedos from seaplanes

I have managed ok deciphering the rest of his military record (i think) and its also backed up by a lot of photographs that he had taken during it, But I cannot understand the datings around the ranks or the intitials after the ranks in these cases.
Also, why are there no dates on most of the station/ships?
Finally crystal palace and felixstowe are obviously not ships (i think) so which stations would these have been?
Thanks in advance for any help

    Chas.

There was an RNVR establishment at Crystal Palace which was also used for RNAS training.

Oh dear. Looks like cut and paste failed.

It's easy to get to the same place via Collections Search on the IWM site.

Crystal Palace navy might be a reasonable search term

Thanks, thats what I did in the end, I have trawled through the further documents and found communication between Charlie and Lt Hyde Thompson confirming the locations, what I am still stuck on is the ranks at the moment.

    Thank you again

    Hi,

This is very interesting - my grandfather Archibald Maskell was on H.M.S. Ben my Chree throughout her whole career in the service - I have been trying to piece things together too. Very interested in any further photos you may be able to post - I have all sorts of stuff here - some of which relates to Charlie's period on board and I'll see if there are any references to him. I do recall reading somewhere that the torpedo dropping mechanism they used was put together on the ship so he may well have played an important part in this (seriously historic).

Cleaned up and heavily photoshopped copy of the front

Heavily faded and writing re-done where readable, Maskell mentioned bottom right.

Back - Writing faded and not redone.
