Thomas Stanley of Eccleshall, Staffordshire

Having some difficulty finding a birth for this chap. He married Ann Brammer at Fulford in 1832 and is in Longton, Staffordshire from 1841 at least. He is variously a painter and glazier born abt. 1812 according to census. In 1841 he is living next door to a Sarah Stanley (transcribed as Burnley) aged 60 who may be his mother. On one census (1861) he is described as coming from Charnes, which I assume to be Charnes Hall, near Eccleshall. This is really all I have on him so if anyone can shed any further light I would be grateful.

His eldest son was Thomas Stanley (1844) and his next eldest was Aaron Stanley (1846) my Ggrandfather

In the 1851 Census Thomas and Ann Stanley are living in Longton, Stoke on Trent withe their children, the eldest of whom is Elizabeth aged 16 (b.abt. 1835). Thomas is a painter and glazier, and was born in Eccleshall and Ann in Longton.

There is one marriage in 1834 in Eccleshall, but the bride is Mary rather than Ann, and from looking at other records I think that there must have been 2 Thomas Stanleys in Eccleshall at about the same time.

I don't know whether this is relevant or not but a Thomas Stanley married a Sarah Shelley in 1812 in Trentham. The IGI lists this marriage twice and in the 2nd instance she is Sarah Halley.

FamilySearch has a Thomas Stanley marrying an Ann Boughey 10 Oct 1836 Stoke Upon Trent. The references are Indexing Project (Batch) Number: M00996-2 and Source Film Number: 435856 .

Thanks for the info. The 1851 census I already had but the rest throws up a few more interesting possibilities.
The 1836 marriage to Ann Boughey is worth checking up as their first child Elizabeth was born 1835 but may have been later as I only have census for that birth. Thomas and Sarah Shelley may also be worth a look for his father. A birth/baptism would be good though.
