    Default Marriage spouse missing

I know I've asked this before but can't find the thread.

    FreeBMD has

Marriages Dec 1889 DRAYTON William Fred Glanford B 7a 1365

But there are only 2 males and 1 female recorded.

I have his wife as Mary Ann

    FMP has

DRAYTON William Fred England Lincolnshire, Glanford Brigg 1889

I can't remember if I've asked for a lookup on FMP to see if there is a Mary Ann shown on that record. Could someone have a look for me please?

Findmypast doesn't even have the one female. According to them he married George Frankish so there is obviously a mistake on the GRO index.

It looks like you're going to need the birth certificate of one of their children if you are to locate the marriage.

Thank you Graham, I somehow knew spending more money would come into it somewhere.

    Thank you for looking.

I think you'll find that the missing bride is Mary Ann LOCKWOOD

There are various diagnostic tricks available on FreeBMD to work out possible answers to this sort of problem.

Very true. And it all comes down to understanding their UCF procedure (Uncertain Character Format). Once you understand that, then it gives one a chance to judge which characters/numbers may have been transcribed with variants.

I did, for a short time, Transcribe for FreeBMD, and whilst I found it boring, it taught me much about how to Search their system. Well worth the effort.
