Thank you Peter as I wasn't aware of Intestacy laws but please look at post #7.

Terry asked for details about James's estate which I provided with as much information as I could without seeing a will, or in this case, a letter of administration.

    I was totally wrong DOH.

Thank you Robin, Yes you did as I asked. It was my fault, I know very little about wills and end up asking the right question in the wrong way.

    Thank you all again.

I think you said his father was dead and JLD was unmarried. Was his mother alive? If so I think she would have been entitled to the estate. Otherwise, it would have been split equally among all his siblings. You would need to check with someone who knows legal history.

They all seemed to die within a short time period

    Mother 21 Sep 1936
    Father 06 Oct 1936
    JLD 31 Oct 1936

So as you say "it would have been split equally among all his siblings" after all his expences had been paid.

Going out with friends this afternoon for Christmas drinks so I can see it getting worse. I'll have to write my address on the back of my hand so I'll know where I live.

I have a memory for names and faces, problem is I can never get them to match up. My friends have given up telling me who someone is as they say I only forget.

It would be tragic if it wasn't so funny.

As long as you recognise the face in the mirror each morning, then you're doing ok!

Sandra whose spectacled aura suggested this piece of information.
