    Default Devonport Electoral rolls

Does anybody know how I can access past electoral registers? I really need to access the 1930 electoral register for Devonport and find the name and details of the family living at 3A Nelson Gardens, Devonport at that time. The information would make a huge difference to confirming an important link in my family tree.

Any information would be invaluable. Thank You!

According to the website of the Plymouth and West Devon Records Office electoral registers can be found at Plymouth Library History Room. It might be worthwhile contacting the library by email to ask if they can help. Many local studies libraries will undertake a free look-up as long as accurate dates and details are known which would seem to apply in your case.

Their contact details can be found on the Plymouth library website here

Remember that the electoral rolls will give you only the names of the people entitled to vote; which at that time would be people over the age of 21.

Don't forget that the register that applied in 1930 would have been compiled in 1929. You'll probably want to make it clear that you want the register with a qualifying date in 1930.

Also make sure you ask for the right constituency (although the library should know this). Devonport constituency had disappeared before 1930
