My ancestors lived on the south bank of the river humber in North Lincolnshire. I have an April edition of South Ferriby's parish magazine printed in 1899 which gives details of the funeral and burial on 6 March 1899 of Mary Elizabeth Hildreth (maternal Gr-Gr-Grandmother) and her two children, Emma (aged 2) and Frank (aged 2) who all drowned together.
Can anyone help with which newspapers were current and any leads to any articles around the time of the drownings that will hopefully give more detail to this story.
Thanks in advance,
Eviand

The Reading Mercury of 11th March 1899 and Exeter Flying Post of 4th Mar 1899 both carry the same short details of this accident.I'll look for more.

Eviand, in case you're not aware, you can access the British Library 19th Century Newspapers database (from Gale) free, at home, using your Stockton Library card number.
www.
stockton.gov.uk/citizenservices/leisureandents/libraries/refroom/
If you don't have a library card, this might be a good moment to get one.
