This posting is another attempt to seek additional data on the Aaron Aarons clothier /tailor who lived at Russell Court Drury Lane. This posting may link to the range of other postings on Catherine Aaron dentist 1851 daughter of Samuel Crawcour 1748-1816.
The London Freedom of City Admissions Papers 1681-1925 are now online as part of a major pay site. One of the records contained data on Noah AARON ( he also added the letter 's' to his surname. The record read: Noah AARON son of Aaron Aaron late of Russell Court Strand tailor. Occupying premises 1 White Street Houndsditch - clothier 17 Oct 1856. I have traced Noah and at least one brother Michael AARONS. The England and Wales National Probate Calender ( Index of Wills and Administrations) 1861-1941 record of Probate: Noah AARONS late of 1 White Street Houndsditch City of London clothier died 17 April 1870. Probate to Michael AARONS 13 -14 Cutler Street Houndsditch -clothier Brother and Isreal Woolf 12 Camomile St Bishopsgate Wolesale Boot and Shoe Manufacturers -Executors.
I will add further data on the Aarons families known to have been at Russell Court to 'flesh out' the relationships further.

THE AARONS FAMILIES OF RUSSELL COURT
The following data relates to the Cemetery and Synagogue site records on the various Aarons families at Russell Court Drury Lane.
The marriage of Noah AARON to Catherine PHILLIPS -GSM 332/29 records: Noah Aaron father's Hebrew name Aharon. Catherine Phillips father's Hebrew name Moshe Ha Levi. The Marriage of Michael AARON 30 August 1845 father's Hebrew name Aaron to Elizabeth PHILLIPS father's Hebrew name Moshe Ha Levi. The two brothers Noah and Michael married the daughters of Moses Phillips 1787-1852 and Hatty ( Esther?) Jacobs 1788-1864. There is data on the Phillips/Jacobs family on various family trees and on the Cemetry and Synagogue Scribes site.
Noah Aaron (s) was born abt 1812 St Martins in the Fields and Michael was born abt 1819-22 St Martins in the Fields
Interestingly, Noah named one of his sons Aaron 1841-1902 which if adhering closely to the Ashkenazi naming tradition ( this tradition has been shown to be flexible in some families) suggests his father was dead pre 1841.
Noah and his family appear in the 1841 Census Finsbury St.Giles HO107 673 18 22 at 34 Monmouth Street where he is a clothier. He later appears in 1851 Census at 2 White Street St Martins in the Fields HO 107 1524 94 4 ( Crown Copyright,TNA) where is a clothier. His brother Michael AARONS also appears in the 1851 Census as a clothier age 29 and with a brother Angel age 26 ( I will put data on the additional census on a later posting).

AARONS OF RUSSELL COURT DRURY LANE
Cemetery and Synagogue Scribes have records on several Aaron Aarons including one at Russell Court. However, this person died in 1849 and in the 1841 Census Catherine AARONS ( Aaron ) was already a widow with her family ( see previous postings on the family under Catherine Aaron-dentist 1851). Similarly, the Aaron Aarons of 3 Knowles Court- furrier also died in 1849. His will appears on British Jewry Archives 2006 and contains the names of his children Benjamin b 1803; George b 1801; Elizabeth 1799-1858; Catherine b 1795 together with the names of grandchildren and sister Sophia.
The names Noah, Michael, Angel appear in neither of the families of the two Aarons who died in 1849. Nor do they appear with the family of Catherine Aaron ( Aarons) in 1841.
JewishGen London Traders data base show that there were:
Aaron Aarons 1827-1832 clothes salesman 5 Russell Court; J Aarons salesman Russell Court Drury Lane 1822; Aarons and Alexander tobacconists 5 Russell Court Drury Lane 1841; Aaron Aarons slop seller 29 Russell St Covent Garden 1814.
Samuel Aaron ( Aarons) eldest child of Catherine Aaron ( Aarons ) was born abt 1818 and although Moses Crawcour Catherine's brother left her a bequest in 1858 he does not name any of her children in his will. The questions which remain unsolved are:
1 Who are the parents of Noah, Michael and Angel ( there may also be a nother brother Louis/Lewis)- none of the family trees I have seen name their mother or the dates of birth/death for their father
2 Is this family in any way related to the Catherine Aarons nee Crawcour family who in 1841 are at 3 Norwich Court- on her death certificate Catherine's husband is named as Aaron Aarons master tailor. The family were also at Russell Court according to newspaper accounts. Catherine's mother Rebecca Crawcour ( Cracour) also appears in the National Archives Records at Russell Court before her death in 1821.

Many thanks Sandie for the data. I did have the addresses for the marriages and looking at some family trees also noted that they had mixed up the names of the father of Noah and Michael. There also appear to be 2 additional brothers Angel and Louis ( Lewis). Angel appears in the 1851 census with Michael at 14 Harrow Alley and is age 26 Unmarried. It also appears that Louis and Angel are together at Monmouth St in the 1841 census HO673 18 17 27. I can't trace Angel post 1851 and Louis post 1841.
The remaining puzzle is who actually is their father Aaron Aaron -tailor of Russell Court. Noah dropped the 's' in his surname but Michael retained it and later on Noah re- uses it. The Catherine Aaron family also dropped the 's' but Aarons is later used.
As you can see from the significant postings on the Catherine family we are still no clearer on solving the puzzle. It maybe that the Noah/Michael line has no relevance to my own relatives but we are trying to eliminate relationships as well as confirm.

Angel Aaron son of Samuel Aaron who was deceased when Angel married Sarah Mendoza 17 08 1853 address given was 6 Creechurch lane note at end says Aarons in register.
Angel Aarons father Aaron Aaron(deceased) married a Abigail Mendoza (same father Judah Mendoza as above) also same address date 04 08 1852............gets confusing doesnt it
there is a Lewis Aaron son of Aaron Aarons(deceased) of 10 Castle Street Whitechapel married a Sarah Rebecca Nathan on 28 10 1846
would think they were brothers
unfortunately the register translations dont give mothers names. and I cannot find them in the births register although a number of their children are in both.
sorry dont seem to have helped much!!
sandie
I did notice (having read your previous mails should have done that 1st!!!!) that on birth register Noah & Cathline were still at White St Houndsditch so if the London Freeman info has Aaron Aarons of Russel court it would seem that is the Aaron you want.
ps Russel Court doesnot appear as an address at all

Thanks Sandie for the very useful additional data. The problem identifying Aaron Aarons tailor/master tailor is that his wife Catherine is with her family in 1841 at 3 Norwich Court and if you add Angel and Louis plus Noah and Michael as possible siblings of the others there is an overlap of ages which suggests that they are not related. In addition, the first names of Catherine's children are those of many of her Crawcour siblings. Of course, Aaron may have married twice and had a first family but the ages of all the children would indicate this was not the case.
Can you spot data on 45 Red Lion Street Christ Church the address for an Aaron Aarons dealer in rags who died at the house March 1838? Also, can you see any info in 1841 census for an Aaron Aarons of 7 Burton Crescent who died 1849 ( he appears in the Cemetry and Synagogue Scribes records- I don't think he is a relative from the will he leaves- no mention of any of Catherine or her children. I have searched the 1841 census but can't see him.
Your help much appreciated.

NATHANIEL NATHAN- ESTHER AARONS
This post links a number of families through marriages including: Crawcour/Nathan/Aarons/Levi/Campbell. These families include Anglo Jews and Christians. In particular, previous posts relating to 'Louisa Nathan/Foley nee Crawcour 1828-1918': 'Henri Levi-glass cutter': confirm these relationships. The following post identifies the marriage of Nathaniel Nathan also known as Nathan Foley son of Isaac Nathan and Louisa Crawcour to Esther AARONS daughter of Noah Aarons. There is an excellent family tree on the Aarons and other lines on World Connect which cites primary records and other sources.
The marriage of Nathaniel Nathan is recorded in 'The Jewish Victorian: Genealogical Information from the Jewish Newspapers 1871-1880. Transcribed and edited by Doreen Berger P 436 with additional data on the death of Noah Aarons. Pub Robert Boyd 1999
Marriage 29.7.1874 at the Great Synagogue - Nathaniel Nathan only son of the late Isaac Nathan of Spitalfields to Esther Aarons youngest daughter of Mr N Aarons of 20 Bishopsgate Street Without
