This was my great grandfather 1839-1907, he was a registrar of births and deaths, as was his father before him John Brierley 1809-1864. My question is where may i get a photo of him? as such a prominent person there must be one, checked the usual papers on his death ect, with no luck,, any ideas?![]()

I have moved your thread out of "Medical Occupations" and put it over in "General Family History Queries".
It's possible that classing your thread under medical occupations might lead to fewer people viewing it so hopefully it will attract more attention here.
If you give us the location where he was a local Registrar it might help our members to advise you of possible sources to look at.

If it was Dukinfield where your great grandfather was registrar, have you contacted the local council offices to see if they are able to help at all? Maybe there could have been an official "do" that he attended and photographs are hidden in their archives.

hi, yes done all that, had picture in my mind that there would be a 'board' room where pictures hung on the walls, but alas not true, and if you mean the Ashton archive centre yes spent days in there,, got a photo of his house in Cheetham hill rd, but nothing of him, but i'm stubburnly sticking to the possibility there will be a photo of him somewhere, i even tried the masons!
