I have a Bible that has been passed down through the family. It has a printed label on the inside front cover “The Gift of Her Majesty Queen Adelaide”. On the label, written in ink, is: Elizabeth Keene. Feby 24th 1840
This Elizabeth, I believe, was the Elizabeth Keene (née Eels) in the 1841 Census HO 107 Piece 718 Book 4 Folio 37 p.14 & 15 (Hampton, Middlesex).
Does anyone know where the Bible came from?

Hi Malcolm99
Adelaide was marriedto King William IV, I believe he ruled from 1830 to 1837 (he was succeeded by Queen Victoria), so I assume Adelaide would have "lost" her title of Queen in 1837.
Perhaps there was a tradition to give Bibles to ladies in waiting or Court members?
I don't know if that has helped or not,
Good luck!

Not necessarily; she would have been known as the Queen Dowager, so she could have still been called queen. A Queen Mother is a type of the Queen Dowager.
