Kirk - early 1800's

Anyone researching Nottingham families with the Kirk surname from the early 1800's, especially from the Radford area?

I'll provide a bit more detail, just in case:

I'm trying to find the family of Melicent Kirk (later called 'Millicent'). b. c1809 in Nottm; m. James Procter (b. 1811 in Nottm; d. 1872 in Nottm [1872/Q3/7b/162]) on 7/3/1831 at Radford St Peter. Wit: Joseph Hooke & William Procter (James’s brother, b. c1803, husband of Jane Richmond); Melicent d. 1868 in Nottm [1868/Q2/7b/146]; James d. 1872 in Nottm [1872/Q3/7b/162];

The problem is that the marriage entry doesn't appear to mention either family's parents, and Melicent's baptism doesn't appear in any source I've checked. This means I've effectively hit a brick wall with her.

One slim possibility was to eliminate the other Kirk families - hopefully with some help from other researchers - and see who's left.

James & Melicent's Children: William (1831), Henry (1833), James (1834), Samuel (1836), Eliza (1839), Emmeline (1839), John (1841), Elizabeth (1843), George (1847), Thomas (1850)
1841: Cambridge St
1851: Cambridge St
1861: Peas Hill Road
1871: York St

The only vague clues I have, otherwise, is possibly that she might have had brothers called James and William.

James Kirk (1806-78?) m. Sophia Guy (1806-77) 1825
1841: Cambridge St (HO107/870/4-37/12], same as Melicent and James Proctor in 1841
1851: Windsor St
1861: Windsor St
1871: Windsor St
Children: Thomas (1825), James (1828), Edward Wright(1831), Eliza Ann (1833), Sophia (1835), Matilda (1844)

James may have been a younger brother because of their close addresses in 1841.


William Kirk (1811-73) m. Louisa Clines (1807-83,Kent) in 1832
Children: Henry (1832-34), Eliza (1835-37), Louisa (1837-40 & 47-48), Peter (1850), Emmeline (1840)
1841: Bellar Gate
1851: Pipe St

William may have been an older brother because they both called their daughters Emmeline in 1839/1840.

These are extremely slim clues as you can imagine :-)
