I am desperate to find any info re Ann Crutchington b abt 1833 (Stourbridge Worc) I think..
Married Richard Durham Sept 1859 Walsall Staffs.
I have marraige cert where she is classed as illigitimate.

There seems to be many variations of the name and some may be transcribed wrongly but it does not seem to be that common.
I found a few in Ormskirk that may be worth looking at but they were born in the late 1700s.
This family caught my eye in the 1851 Census in Astley Abbotts.
Thomas Credgington age 72
Charlot Credgington age 39
William Credgington age16
Jane Credgington age 11
Richard Credgington age 9
Martha Credgington age 5
Robert Credgington age 2
HO 107/1986, Folio: 184, Page: 13
(census returns Crown copyright, in care of TNA)
I was just wondering if Ann could have been an older child in the family and maybe working away as a servant.
If not their child possibly a relation? I suppose it is also possible looking at the ages of Charlotte and Thomas that she could have been a child of Charlotte and Mr. Another?
The young William went on to marry an Emma from Stourbridge.
Perhaps they need tracking in 1841

This is fairly unusual. Do you mean that the certificate explicitly stated "illegitimate"? Otherwise, what exactly did it say?I have marraige cert where she is classed as illigitimate.
Are there any clues in the marriage witnesses?

Ann Crutchington
I have since found out that Ann Crutchington was born in Brierly Hill (Worcestershire as it was then) from the 1871 census with Richard Durham (her husband).
Also listed as her son is George Crutchington b abt 1854. but I can find no record of her or Georges birth from which I may get a clue as to her history.
Any ideas
Cheers Roger

Won't do any harm getting that certificate.
