Hello All..
My name is Heather.I am from N.S.W. Australia. A little country town called..Quialigo..
I am a grandmother of 3 beautiful young ladies and 2 handsome young men. I would love to leave them a history of where they came from. Also at the moment I am trying to find and record for my father his family tree...
His family ( BAMFORD ) are proving elusive. I know they are hiding somewhere in Liverpool, Lancashire....
To tell the truth, I have found quite a few of them, but have hit the proverbial " Brick Wall "
I have tralled through the records so often I feel I know them personally. I actually miss them when I am not
researching...I need more time !! But don't we all...
Looking foreward to getting beyond the " wall " .. and hope to be able to offer any help from this end...

Hello Heather and welcome to Brit-Gen.
I think Liverpool was the proverbial black hole. I have a number who went there and just disappear as well.Doug

Heather--
You are doing a wonderful thing to leave a record for your grandchildren. I hope you are starting with YOU, and writing down the key points of your own life, and some family stories too!
This site is very helpful for everyone from novices to 50-year experts. Members here are very keen, and very friendly.
I've found it helpful to search through the long list of sub-forums to find the right place to post questions. It helps also to put some key words in the message title, then in the message a summary of what you've found so far (and where you found it), and what your next question to be solved is.
Oh, and don't be embarrassed to ask "silly questions"--everyone starts somewhere, and people here are very kind.
Good luck--
Jane E

Hi, I had a very quick look at the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks website and found 100's of BAMFORDs there. I dont know if you have visited that site or not. It is one of my favourite free sites.
