    Smile Stephen Stevens

I am trying to find out about my wifes great grandfather, Steven Stevens. He was born Sundridge, Kent, England on 24 Oct 1865. Married 12 Nov 1893 to Annie Chipperfield. I have a photo of him in uniform but am unsure of how to post the image. Any help/information gratefully recieved.

Hello lancsman - welcome to Brit-Gen,

For information about how to post images, please have a read of this thread.

I have a number of questions though, about Steven....
What information are you trying to find out about him?
When would the photograph have been taken?
Is it likely that he would have fought in the Boer War?
Any idea of when he died - or where?

Sorry for the questions but the more information that members have, the more help that we will be able to give you.

    Hi Jan1954

Sorry but the information I have posted is all that I have. If you could identify the Army Unit and any Army details that would be great.

It's a shame the cap badge isn't clearer but the outline looks as if it could be The Buffs. This was the name for the East Kent Regiment which would fit in with his birthplace.

There's a little about the Buffs on Wikipedia with an illustration of their badge. If you compare it against the actual photo you have, possibly using a magnifying glass, you can decide whether the badges are the same:

What occupation is shown on the various relevant BMD certificates? These might include his marriage certificate, the birth certificates of his children, the marriage certificates of his children and his death certificate.

How do you know these dates? If it is because you have all the relevant certificates then, as Peter has stated, it would help if you could tell us what Steven's occupation was on each of the dates.
