New version of Ancestry Advanced Image Viewer

I've never had a problem using the Advanced or standard viewer. I use Google Chrome. Perhaps I'm doing something right for a change.

I downloaded Firefox 8 the other day (by mistake, as I was quite happy with the older version) - anyway I haven't had a problem, yet, with Ancestry and it hasn't asked me to download the enhanced viewer. Today may be different though! I am still finding my way around all the "new and improved"stuff on Ancestry, and still haven't found my "old search" link! Change is really tough on this old noggin!!

I think this will get you to 'old search'.

On Ancestry's home page, third tab along is 'search'.
From the drop-down menu, select 'search all records', and then near the top right of the page you should see 'go to old search'.

(a) Make sure that you have the 'exact matches' box ticked when you then start searcing.

(b) If it worked - Bookmark this thread/message.

Thanks Pam - I'll have a go again! I got extremely frustrated yesterday, looking everywhere for my links!!

When I go back to use it the next day, I find it's gone back to standard viewing.
It's not a problem as I click on options and get to it as before, but I wondered if anyone knows how to keep it there.

As Arthur said in the first post "The only slight glitch I've found so far is that if session cookies are deleted, the site seems to forget about you using the new viewer next time you go there." So if your browser is set to automatically delete cookies on closing ,as mine is ,then you have to select to use the new version in the options as you have found already.

Having used the new viewer again today, and experimented a bit with my cookie settings, I think this might have been sorted out now. In Firefox I deleted session cookies and the setting seemed to stick; and in IE it wasn't until I deleted all cookies that I found I needed to select the new viewer again. But to make sure I haven't made a mistake here, it would be interesting to know what others are finding now.
