Exclamation Jane Good b approx. 1840 died feb 23rd 1926

I am looking for information on my Great Great Great Grandmother Jane Good. I dont believe Good to be her maiden name, as she married my great great great Grandfather John Good. She immigrated from Ireland in around 1845. She was born approximately 1840, though that is as of yet uncomfirmed. She died in the RM of Rockwood, Manitoba, Canada (now the Balmoral area) on February 23rd, 1926. In some census records I found, she is listed as a spinster or spinner, i am unsure of what that means.

The above is the family tree I have built so far.

I am 19 years old, and have been doing this research since i was 17. Any help that could be give on Jane, or any member of my family tree would be greatly appreciated.

Hello irelandmissed and welcome to the forum.

I was just looking on the Manitoba Vital Statistics Agency website and plugged in your death date of 1926 for Jane GOOD. It brings up a record for Jane with a birth date 22/06/1837. I'm no expert on Canadian death records but don't they generally include the parent's details (provided the informant can provide those details.) Also, a search brings up some of their childrens marriages and at a guess I would have thought that Jane's maiden be included on these records?

Further to the above, I noticed a page on Ancestry where Jane's maiden name was recorded as ARDILL and I just spotted a Jane ARDELL in the 1851 Canadian census in Carleton County. I’ll take a look at this in a moment.

It sounds like it may be her. When you find the information, please let me know! I have been at a stand still with her for about 8 months now, and I've been feeling like I have exhausted all of my resources.

There are a number of public trees on Ancestry which have John GOOD and Jane ARDILL but I think you may need an account to view these trees. Do you have an account? In case you don't, I'll search Google in a moment to see if the information is posted anywhere else. In the meantime, here is some information from these trees, which needs to be verified by you through records. Please don't take this information as fact without verifying it for yourself.

Jane's parents are stated to be Thomas ARDILL and Jane BROWN.

John's parents are stated to be John GOOD and Marjory McGEE

Marriage between John GOOD and Jane ARELL/ARDILL on 29 Nov 1860 at Nepean, Ontario, Canada

Census records that i have printed out have her listed as living in Nepean, Carleton County, Canada West in 1861:

Good, William, Farmer, Ireland, English Church Aged 40, Married
Good, Ann b. Ireland aged 44, married.
Good, Thomas b. Upper Canada, aged 18
Good, Ann Allis b. Ireland, aged 19
Good, John, labourer, B. Upper Canada, aged 30, Married
Good, Jane, b Upper Canada aged 25, Married.

Most every census that I find afterwards has her listed as being born in Ireland.

If you don't have a Ancestry account, then similar information on the family can be seen on this site...
